Itinerary Overview
Day 1: Arrival in Kigali & Transfer to Akagera National Park
Upon arrival at Kigali International Airport, you’ll be met by our team and transferred to Akagera National Park. On the drive to the park, enjoy Rwanda’s scenic countryside. Check into your lodge in Akagera and relax for the evening, ready for the adventures to come.
Day 2: Game Drive & Boat Safari in Akagera National Park
Start your day with a thrilling game drive through the savannahs of Akagera. Keep your eyes peeled for elephants, lions, buffalos, and a variety of antelope species. In the afternoon, embark on a boat safari on Lake Ihema, where you can spot hippos, crocodiles, and countless bird species along the shore.
Day 3: Morning Safari & Transfer to Volcanoes National Park
Enjoy one more morning game drive in Akagera before heading north to the famous Volcanoes National Park, home to the majestic mountain gorillas. Pass through lush rolling hills, characteristic of Rwanda’s landscape, and arrive at your lodge near the park in the late afternoon.
Day 4: Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National Park
The highlight of your trip awaits! After a briefing from park rangers, set out on an unforgettable gorilla trekking expedition. Hike through the dense forest until you find one of the habituated gorilla families. Spend an hour observing their behavior, taking photos, and learning about their conservation. Return to your lodge for relaxation and a well-deserved rest.
Day 5: Golden Monkey Trekking or Cultural Tour
Choose between trekking to see the playful golden monkeys in the forest or taking a cultural tour to learn about the rich traditions of the local communities. Visit an authentic Rwandan village, learn about traditional farming, or take part in a local drumming session.
Day 6: Return to Kigali & Departure
